Verbena bonariensis is a gorgeous, purple-flowered perennial. Verbenas favour a full sun placement in the garden. They can be planted in pots or in the ground and are late summer and autumn bloomers.
Verbena can grow up to 2 meters high, so make sure to plant it in the back of your garden. The flowers will appear in the back, giving your garden dimension and colour.
They are fairly drought tolerant, so feel free to mix and match with other drought-tolerant, sun-loving plants such as Echinacea, Nepeta, and grasses.
You can cut it back in the fall or early spring (preferable) close to the base of the plant to encourage new growth and more flowers.
You can feed your verbena with a multipurpose, slow release fertiliser in spring. If you want to give your plants an extra boost, you can use a liquid fertilizer such as seaweed.
Sold in 2L pots.
