The Plant Collector is a 12 acre nursery in Celbridge, Co. Kildare, supplying show-stopping specimen plants and mature trees for some of Ireland's most beautiful gardens.
The Plant Collector was founded by Dermot Kerins, the landscape contractor who built Diarmuid Gavin's Irish Sky Garden at Chelsea, to give Irish garden designers and homeowners mature trees and specimen plants selected over thirty years in the trade and grown for Irish conditions.
Dermot grew up on a small family-run plant nursery in Kenmare, County Kerry, where his passion for plants first took root. After studying horticulture in the UK, he spent the next 30 years building gardens in Ireland, the UK, France, the Czech Republic and, with the Niall Mellon Township Trust, South Africa.
Dermot Kerins was the landscape contractor who built Diarmuid Gavin's Irish Sky Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2011 (RHS Gold Medal) and his Westland Magical Tower Garden in 2012 (RHS Silver-Gilt). Gold Medal and Best in Show, Dublin Flower Show 2001. Awards from the Association of Landscape Contractors of Ireland.
That experience led to The Plant Collector, a specialist plant centre born from a commitment to excellence in garden design and project delivery.
We are passionate about creating spaces where people can connect with nature.
We source, grow and install high quality, mature trees and specimen plants for gardens across Ireland. All our plants are produced in Ireland or sourced from across Europe, and are specifically selected for the Irish climate — from multi-stems to evergreens, structural specimens to flowering and fruit trees.
We've created thoughtfully designed gardens from more modest budgets to high-value landscapes worth millions. Our collective experience ensures that every project receives the same level of care, precision and professionalism, from design through to delivery.
We specialise in bespoke garden screening, creating beautiful hedging solutions tailored to all landscapes and garden styles. Our expertise lies in advising on refined, instant screening solutions using mature trees and hedging that enhance both privacy and design.
