If you find the same plant for sale for less from another retailer in the Republic of Ireland, we will match that price. If you have already bought from us, tell us within 14 days and we will refund the difference.
We grow, source and hand-select mature and specimen plants, and we price them to reflect that care. We are confident in our prices, and this promise is how we stand behind them.
What we promise
Before you buy, show us a lower current price for the same plant from another retailer in the Republic of Ireland and we will sell it to you at that price.
After you buy, if you find the same plant advertised for less within 14 days of collecting it or having it delivered, we will refund the difference to your original payment method.
What counts as the same plant
No two specimen trees are identical, so we compare like with like on the things that drive the price. The plant must be the same species and variety, by its full botanical name. It must be the same size, measured the same way: we measure height from the top of the rootball to the tip of the crown, and for standard trees we also give clear stem height and trunk girth. It must be grown the same way, so a container-grown or air-pot tree is not the same as a field-grown rootball or a bare-root tree. It must have the same form, whether that is a single stem, multi-stem, standard, pleached screen or a clipped topiary shape, and it must be of comparable quality and health.
The competitor’s plant must be in stock and available to buy now, and it must come with a plant passport where the law requires one. We compare the total price you would actually pay, including VAT and any delivery to the same address. Collection is compared with collection.
Where a description or photograph does not let us confirm that the plants are the same, we will ask you for more detail. Our horticulturists make the final like-for-like judgement and will always explain their reasoning.
How to claim
In the nursery, speak to the member of staff on the retail floor before you pay. For online or phone orders, email sales@theplantcollector.com with your order number.
We need proof of the competitor’s current price. That can be a link to the product page, a written quotation addressed to you and dated within the last 14 days, or a printed price list or advertisement. We may contact the competitor to confirm the price and availability.
If you are claiming after your purchase, send us your proof within 14 days of collection or delivery, together with your receipt or order number. Once we have confirmed the claim we will refund the difference within 14 days.
What the promise does not cover
We do not match trade-only or wholesale prices, auction or marketplace listings, or prices from sellers outside the Republic of Ireland. Plant health rules make plants from outside the State a different proposition, so we do not compare across the border.
We do not match closing-down, clearance or liquidation prices, one-day or flash sales, prices only available to members of another retailer’s loyalty scheme, bundle or multi-buy deals, or prices that are obviously a mistake.
The promise applies to plants and garden products sold at our normal retail price. It does not apply to items already reduced in our own sale, to trade or designer account pricing, to gift cards, or to services such as delivery, planting, consultations and design. A price-matched item cannot be combined with any other discount, offer or member discount on the same item.
For large or volume orders that we quote individually, we will compare a competitor’s written quotation for the same plants, sizes and quantities as a whole.
The small print
The Price Promise is for customers buying for their own use. We may decline a claim where we cannot verify the competitor’s price or availability, and we may limit quantities to what a household would reasonably buy.
We may change or withdraw the Price Promise for future purchases by updating this page. Any claim you make before a change is handled under the terms that applied when you made it.
The Price Promise is in addition to your statutory rights as a consumer and does not affect them.
